Vacancy: Occupational Health Physician

Are you a M.D. or Occupational Health Physician and would you like to be part of a growing occupational health and insurance medicine advisory company on Sint Maarten?

The job

As an occupational health physician, you are involved in the implementation of sick leave management at various companies from different branches (care, catering, logistics/transport, hotels, etc.). You perform sick leave consultations and are responsible for absenteeism guidance. Based on your examination you determine if, when and in what capacity the worker can return to work. The goal is for someone to get back to work as best as possible. You also advise on fitness for work, absenteeism due to illness and improving working conditions.

Moreover, you will perform various types of medical examinations, including; pre-employment screenings and job-specific screenings. You take into account (medical) laws and regulations, standards and internal guidelines.

In addition, you perform drug and alcohol tests for our customers, prepare the reports and send them to the customer.

You record all actions and relevant data in the sick leave registration system.

You are based in Sint Maarten, but you are flexible to travel occasionally to Saba and Statia for assignments.

The team

Medwork Caribbean has offices in three locations: Sint Maarten, Aruba and the BES islands (Bonaire, Statia and Saba). All together the Medwork organization consists of about 30 employees.

It is a growing organization with a lot of ambition. The team on Sint Maarten consists of a managing director, an occupational health nurse, a front office employee, a reintegration coach and a social worker.

You have good communication and advisory skills to deal with different types of people. You have a positive and proactive attitude. You are a professional with integrity and are result-oriented. Moreover, you work neatly, accurately and professionally and you understand the importance of protocols and guidelines. You have an eye for the commercial development of the services, and you contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of the services provided.

We also expect

• A Medical Degree from an accredited University, preferably with a Dutch BIG registration;

• Preferably a degree and registration as Occupational Health Physician;

• Verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch, Spanish is a plus.
